Samantha Snow Takes Charge of Georgia Southwestern Women's Soccer

AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern Athletic Department has named Samantha Snow head women’s soccer coach. Snow comes to GSW from Bluefield College in Virginia. She replaces Tony Economopoulos who left the program in the spring to become head coach at Division I Mercer University.

During her two-year tenure at Bluefield College, Snow helped the Lady Rams to several program firsts. These included Bluefield’s first-ever wins over Emory and Henry and North Carolina Wesleyan. Her teams at BC were active in the community as well. One of their many campaigns was the creation and implementation of the "Kickaroos" youth soccer program for children in the western Virginia area.

Her previous coaching stint before Bluefield was as interim head coach at Oxford College of Emory University in Oxford, Ga. Snow took over the reins of the program after serving as an assistant the year before. She led the Lady Eagles to a 7-7-1 record and an appearance in the NJCCA National Tournament.

Snow has also spent over five years coaching in Olympic Development Programs in Colorado, West Virginia and Georgia. She has held a U.S. Soccer Federation "A" coaching license since 2009 and has been a coach with U.S. Soccer Region I since 2011.

She is no stranger to the Peach Belt Conference. Snow (formerly Samantha Bird) is a former member of the Columbus State women’s soccer program where she played under current head coach Jay Entlich. CSU won the Peach Belt Conference in Snow’s final season of competition in 2005 before injuries ended her playing career prematurely. She spent the next two seasons as a student manager with Columbus State, which saw the Lady Cougars earned earn back-to-back NCAA Tournament berths and reach as far as the Elite Eight.

Snow holds her Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Georgia. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree and is married to Elliot Snow.
